Nearly 35 years after the 1982 record that helped launch Flying Nun Records and take the ‘Dunedin Sound’ around the world, The Chills play Nelson Arts Festival!
The Chills formed in Dunedin in 1980 and are fronted by the rare talent of Martin Phillipps. His knack for writing fantastic pop songs has given them chart hits in New Zealand and a cult following around the world. These include Pink Frost, I Love My Leather Jacket and Heavenly Pop Hit, to name just a few.
In 2015, they released their first full-length album in nearly two decades, Silver Bullets. The critically acclaimed album hailed the return of one of New Zealand’s most respected exports.
"The first album in 19 years from Martin Phillipps’s New Zealand-based pioneers of the ‘Dunedin Sound’ is a breathtaking return. It’s brilliant." THE GUARDIAN
